Saturday 12th April saw the green filled almost to capacity with seven full rinks of players enjoying relatively warm sunshine during sixteen ends of play. The first jack of the year was thrown by Christine McGeachy and went straight down the middle of Rink 1 to around 3/4 length. The traditional opening match between President Leslie Colville and Vice President John McLean resulted in an overwhelming win for John. Les, try loading your team for closing day!
George Reid is still in charge of the green, now ably assisted by Jimmy C Anderson and the green was a credit to their TLC. A full length jack was easily reachable and the draws were in place by the second end and even the biggest greetin' faces in the club were impressed by the condition of the playing surface. At George's recommendation there have been a few subtle changes to the surrounds and these have also received positive comments. No doubt there will be the usual one or two who lose a tie due to "funny runs" and vent their spleen to their own ultimate embarrassment but they will, as always, be in a minority.
